Hey everyone!
Hope each of you had a great Christmas and a safe New Year. Boyd has been on me pretty hard about keeping this updated. I just finished my workout and am now sitting on his computer at his studio.
My progress seems to have actually INCREASED. I expected a plateau, but now, I feel like I am getting stronger (and leaner) every single day. We took a couple of days off during the holidays and it only charged my batteries.
Today's workout was especially brutal, as we focused on total body strength: heavy squats, power bench pressing and deadlifts from the floor. We finished off with some posterior core work and my whole body is cooked... SO much better than wasting time with lots of isolation work.
I thought Boyd was going to kill me today when I walked in and joked about him giving free personal training away (there are signs all around the innersection by his studio that say it) but he pointed out that it is a bogus gimmick by a gym down the street. He didn't say their name, but since I have no affiliation, I will - Anytime Fitness. Guys and gals, trust me, your health and fitness are too important no to take serious. So it is up to you if you want to go visit a novice personal trainer that will feed you lines of crap and make you waste time and get frustrated while putting you at serious risk for injury, or you can go visit an expert like Boyd (who I now refer to as "San Antonio's Personal Trainer"). For me, the choice is easy.
So I guess I should discuss my goals for 2009. That's easy... I want to be on the cover of a fitness related magazine. Sound crazy? I don't think so. Had you mentioned it to me 4 months ago I would've laughed in your face. But the way I feel right now has me asking "Why not me?" I am very proud of my progress. While Boyd has a way of humbling me, I can honestly say that I can move mountains. I have a great team of support and I have all of the faith in the world.
I also want to say congrats to Samantha, a long time friend of mine who is starting her change with Boyd today. Samantha is already in great shape, and after she watched my progress, she has decided to take it to another notch. We're both planning on competing in fitness competitions as early as this spring!
I want to wish everyone a VERY happy new year and thank Boyd again and again for being the greatest motivator, personal trainer, friend and fitness/nutrition encyclopedia in San Antonio and the rest of the world.
Until later...
Jen
